For Referring Veterinarians
VRCNH was originally created in response to area veterinarians. Over the years, we have surveyed local practitioners on what areas of specialized care should we concentrate on.
The first was after hours emergency care. Quickly this expanded into critical care and 24/7 coverage.
As with most referral practices, surgery and internal medicine were rated high on the surveys. To that end we have recruited a board certified surgeon and a board certified internist.
VRCNH continues to evaluate the area veterinarian needs and requests. Understand that a few specialties are in such high demand, it may be some time before we are able to attract these specialists. If you as a referring veterinarian (rDVM) have ideas that would help you, please contact the Manager at wendy@CapAreaVES.org or the President at mdutton@weareanimalhospital.com.
In 2007, we will be starting an e-mail service that we hope will benefit you in determining what emerging diseases are appearing in the area. Since we see the sickest of the sick and the unusual cases, we can track trends in the area's pet population. As an example, we are tracking how many dogs with Leptospirosis we treat. With firm numbers in hand, you as a rDVM can better decide what frequency and what servovars you should vaccinate against.
