Cardiology
Veterinarians refer pets to VRCNH's Cardiology services to better define the nature and type of heart problem suspected in your pet. VRCNH uses state of the art diagnostic techniques including: echocardiograms, electrocardiograms, ambulatory electrocardiograms (holter recorders), event recorders, and chest x-rays.
Treatments that the Cardiology Service might provide for your pet include diet (incorporating research done by the Tufts Cardiac Nutrition Group) and exercise modifications, medical therapy and interventional techniques. Medical therapy offered incorporates the latest medical research for heart disease including novel cardiac medications such as Pimobendan, Amiodarone and Carvedilol. Pacemaker therapy can be utilized for your pet (as needed) in conjunction with the Cardiology Group at Tufts University.
